RE: Best place for Repair

Do it yourself with Lexan or plexiglass. the windows are very easy to disassemble and make your own repairs.

Anyone ever worked for their dealer?

I recently accepted a part time position in the service area of my local dealership where I have purchased my last 2 trailers. Am I crazy? I really enjoy the work and the techs, but will this cause me to be less interested in my trailer if I fool with them during the week?
Anyone else done this?
What are your thoughts?

Did the 17yr old sell you the beer? That's illegal in most states.

RE: Vent Caulk

Eternabond will not adhere to silicone, but I do recommend Eternabond for all of your roof seams.

RE: Dometic Remote AC

By no means am I a fan of the design, just trying to deal with it and enjoy the trailer as much as possible.

RE: Reflectix in windows

When we had our HTT, we kept the reflectix in all the time, even folded in. When we wanted that "breezy, open feeling", we just unzipped the windows and pulled the inserts out and stored them under the mattress.

RE: Dometic Remote AC

I have the remote 13.5k unit in my trailer. It is pretty tough to get the AC to function in a "traditional" manner that we all are used to, but I have learned a couple of things that may help you figure yours out. One of the settings is called "dry air" this is the setting that yours sounds like its on. (it looks like a tear drop in the LCD display) I have found the most accurate and convenient setting is the "I feel" setting which actually uses the remote as a thermostat sensor and relays the information to the main unit and tells it when changes are needed. We set ours on the dinette, away from any ducts. Remember when you make changes on the remote, the main unit is only responding when you hear the beep.
Maybe you will figure it out.

RE: Electric Jack

Would not recommend the ADTH jacks. I own one and speak from experience.

RE: Black Streaks - Awesome?

I only have one kind available to me and it works great. It is the Yellow liquid in a spray bottle with red writing.
Just a reminder, Awesome removes black streaks but also wax and sometimes paint. I always just use diluted in water, but some people use full strength. I would definitely not let it set on the vinyl graphics it would damage them for sure.

RE: Well, here we go, upgrading........

Zfamily,
Yeah from our research Keystone has discontinued the 25rss. It was one we were looking at, but did not have a dealer near by, so we went with the less expensive Skyline and found out it is almost identical to the Outbacks.

RE: Which TV will work??

30' bunkhouse,
I think you will be unhappy with any of the three you've listed. The weight police can chime in if they want, I just think you are pushing the TV too close to the limits and would be unhappy with the performance. Especially on hills.

RE: Picked up our new TT today.

I'm jealous, we have to wait another week to pickup our new trailer. We will lose two weekends during the transition, but we'll get back in the great outdoors real soon.
Enjoy....

Well, here we go, upgrading........

Well after a nice Memorial Day trip last week, We decided the Hybrid was a little cramped and it might be time to "look around" for our next trailer. We spent the last three days in and out of our local dealer checking out potential upgrades, but we could not find the floor plan we were looking for. Our salesman did some checking around and found one at a nearby dealer. (150 miles) Long story short, we paid a little extra on the destination charges, but we worked a pretty good deal and put down our deposit this evening. The trailer is due in on Wednesday and PDI scheduled for Thursday morning.
Here is what is headed our way.....

RE: Starcraft XP Series M-18RB

18RB owner here....
Great trailer, both in build quality and layout. We only had one issue with ours during the warranty period and that was a hairline crack in the skylight dome above the shower. We had no trouble getting it replaced. Keep in mind this a lightweight single axle trailer, it does try to sway with you going down the highway. A proper hitch and sway control can fix that with no problem. We love the trailer. This is our third season with it, and aren't planning on upgrading for a while.
I have plenty of pics and mods in my webshots, check 'em out.
As far as price is concerned, I believe you can do better. We only gave something like 12,500 + extras for ours brand new in the late summer of '06.
